Medical Kaomoji

Kaomoji (顔文字, literally 'face characters') are Japanese-style emoticons made from text characters and punctuation. Unlike Western emoticons like :) which are read sideways, kaomoji like (◕‿◕) and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ are read horizontally. They're used to express emotions in text messages, social media posts, and online chats.

The easiest way to use kaomoji is to copy and paste from this page — just click any kaomoji and it copies to your clipboard. For frequent use, you can save your favorites in a notes app or use our copy-paste collection. Most keyboards don't have built-in kaomoji shortcuts.

Kaomoji are made from regular text characters (letters, punctuation, symbols) and work in any text field. Emoji are pictographic images (⭐😂❤️) that render differently on each device. Kaomoji are more expressive and customizable, while emoji are standardized. Both are great for different contexts — you can even combine them!
